Congressional offices come out in support of the overseas American community

Both Congressman Raskin (D-MD) and Congresswoman Titus (D-NV) issued support statements to the House Ways and Means Committee at the “Members’ Day Hearing” held on June 4, 2019. Both Representatives asked that the Congress address the tax compliance issues facing the community of Americans overseas. Congressman Raskin's statement and Congresswoman Titus' statement, along with Congressman Holding’s introduction of the “Tax Fairness for Americans Abroad Act” last year are important steps in advocacy efforts for tax reform for US citizens living and working overseas. Having the House Ways & Means Committee conduct hearings on the subject is the first step to seeing that residency-based taxation legislation is reintroduced in this Congress.
