ACA hosts London Town Hall for members with updates on Washington, DC advocacy

On December 3, 2025 ACA hosted an ACA UK members meeting in London. The meeting covered ACA's recent advocacy to end worldwide "double taxation" and by adopting Residence-based taxation (RBT). Updates on Congressman LaHood's legislation Tax Fairness for Americans Abroad Act, our meetings with Congress and the Administration and our recent member survey results.

Additionally, meeting participants discussed the importance of U.S. citizens overseas in contributing to and participating in the U.S. economy, highlighting the following statistics.

A 1% decline in Americans overseas would lead to a 0.5% drop in U.S. exports—meaning a 10% reduction could slash exports by 5%.

A 1% rise in foreign affiliate employment or sales correlates with a 0.1% increase in U.S. parent jobs, with intrafirm exports alone supporting nearly 700,000 American jobs through supply chains and headquarters functions.

U.S.-managed overseas operations generate 2–3 times more U.S. exports per employee than foreign-managed facilities in the same markets.

American executives abroad source 68% of their discretionary procurement from U.S. vendors when feasible, compared to just 12% by non-U.S. nationals in equivalent positions.
