ACA statement on recent announcement by Trump to end double taxation of US citizens overseas
American Citizens Abroad (ACA) welcomes President Trump's pledge to end the onerous double taxation of Americans living and working overseas. ACA has been advocating for the adoption of residence-based taxation (RBT) which addresses this issue for over 20 years. ACA also seeks a pledge from Vice President Harris to end this regressive tax on hard working Americans if elected to office. It is important for both major party candidates and members of Congress to commit to a tax policy that treats hard working Americans overseas fairly. While often overlooked by US policymakers, Americans overseas represent an engaged and informed voting block of over 5 million strong (Trump Pledges to End ‘Double Taxation’ of Americans Abroad - WSJ). ACA will continue to educate and inform policymakers on RBT’s benefits. Anyone interested should contact us and join ACA if they are eligible. ACA is non-profit and non-partisan and leads this debate and continues to push for RBT. Join/Renew - American Citizens Abroad (americansabroad.org)
