US Treasury needs to adopt Same Country Exemption (SCE) regulations for FATCA

Now is the time for the U.S. Treasury Department to pass Same Country Exemption regulatory relief for Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) filing. Join our write-in campaign calling on the U.S. Treasury and your Representatives in Congress to make this change to the filing requirements for FATCA. Adopting this regulation would ensure that U.S. citizens living and working overseas are not locked out of foreign bank and financial access. It’s simple. It does not require legislation. It will not invite cheating.

Support Congressman Beyer's efforts on behalf of US citizens overseas.

Ask your Representatives to support Congressman Beyer's bill H.R.5432 - Tax Simplification for Americans Abroad Act of 2023. This bill is the first step towards correcting the tax filing and compliance issues that many overseas US citizens are facing. Recognizing that many US citizens overseas face complex and costly compliance issues, this bill will simplify the filing requirements and reduce the cost of compliance.

Support Congresswoman Titus' efforts on behalf of US citizens overseas.

Congresswoman Dina Titus, Chair of the Americans Abroad Caucus, has reintroduced into the 118th Congress (2023) The Commission on Americans Living Abroad Act (H.R.2729). Ask your Representatives to support Congresswoman Titus' efforts on behalf of US citizens. H.R.2729 will create a commission where all the issues facing US citizens overseas can be heard and discussed so that Congress can develop recommendations on actions to rectify these issues.

Access to emergency medical services for US citizens overseas

Write your Representatives in Congress and the Committee Representatives responsible for distribution of the SARS-CoV-2e vaccine asking that emergency medical services funded by the US government are made available to US citizens overseas.

Windfall Elimination Provision

The Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) affects U.S. citizens working overseas whose foreign pension benefits may reduce their U.S. Social Security benefits, sometimes up to 50%. Please learn more about H.R.82 and S.597 that would help correct this problem for U.S. citizens living and working overseas. Please support holding hearings on H.R.82 and S.597.

House bill: H.R.82 - Social Security Fairness Act of 2023 as well as the Senate version S.597 - A bill to amend title II of the Social Security Act to repeal the Government pension offset and windfall elimination provisions address this problem.

Write to your Representatives in Congress and educate them on how WEP affects U.S. citizens living and working overseas and ask your Representative in Congress to hold hearings on H.R.82 TODAY!
