ACA Comments on Senate OBBB Provisions That Impact Americans Abroad
On June 23, 2025, ACA provided comments on Senate OBBB provisions that impact Americans abroad.
"ACA is pleased to see that the Senate Leadership has recognized our concerns on several of the provisions in the House One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB), that have a serious impact on the community of 4 million civilian and 1.2 million military U.S. citizens living and working overseas. The refinements in the Senate bill are a step forward, however, ACA still has concerns over various of the provisions.
Americans abroad have a keen interest in U.S. tax policy and the 2025 budget reconciliation bill. We believe the legislation provides an opportunity for Congress to address some of the serious personal and financial problems U.S. tax policy causes for the Americans living and working abroad. Americans abroad are generally misunderstood and typically forgotten during important tax writing. We hope to shed light on their situation and the matters that currently concern us as Congress moves forward in implementing the president’s tax agenda."
