Hearings Announced for H.R.82 - The Social Security Fairness Act

The House Committee on Ways and Means has announced that a hearing will be held for House bill H.R. 82 - The Social Security Fairness Act.  See announcement here: ADVISORY_SS Subcommittee_November 20 2023 SSSC (house.gov)

The hearing is scheduled for Monday, November 20th at the St. George Fire Department in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Live streaming (webcast) of the hearing can be seen on: https://waysandmeans.house.gov. The webcast will not be available until the hearing starts.

The hearing was announced by House Committee on Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith (MO-08) and Social Security Subcommittee Chairman Drew Ferguson (GA-03) on November 13th. The Social Security Subcommittee hearing will focus on how Social Security’s Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset affect the benefits of public servants.
