Congresswoman Dina Titus, Chair of the Americans Abroad Caucus, has introduced The Commission on Americans Living Abroad Act (H.R.2729). H.R.2729 and the Overseas Americans Financial Access Act H.R.8873 - 118th Congress (2023-2024): To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide an exception from certain reporting requirements with respect to the foreign accounts of individuals who live abroad. | Congress.gov | Library of Congress.  The Commission bill will create a Congressional commission where all the issues facing US citizens overseas can be heard and discussed so that Congress can develop recommendations on actions to rectify the problems created by current legislation and regulations.  The Overseas Financial Access act will call for adoption of a "same country exception" for FATCA reporting, therefore alleviating foreign financial account lockout for U.S. citizens overseas.
